Energy of May

May has arrived, and with it, a shift in the air. If April was about grounding, May invites us into movement.

Last week felt like two weeks packed into one. Maybe it was the weight of April coming to a close.

April, in numerology, resonates with the number 4 — a number of structure, effort, stability, and grounding. It carries a slower pace, a sense of pause… like the stillness before a storm.

Now May has come — and ready or not, things are starting to move, or will soon enough.

Compared to April, May might feel more unpredictable, even unstable. But not without purpose. 

We're not quite at the midpoint of the year, yet the past four months have started to show us a path —one we may have seen and begun to follow, or one we're still circling, unsure. Or maybe, we're just taking baby steps. It all counts.

Since May is a 5 month, it's connected to the Hierophant in the tarot —traditionally a card of spiritual authority, structure, tradition, and inner wisdom. While the Hierophant is classically associated with Taurus, the number 5 also reminds me of Leo energy and its vibrance - leadership, light, and an unapologetic expression of self. Leo is ruled by the Sun, a symbol of clarity, vitality, and leadership.

With all this in mind, that's what May feels like to me: a pivot point, towards a change we have been working on in the past months… or maybe longer. This is a month where we begin to trust our own timing. We follow our own guidance—not because we refuse support, but because something is beginning to rise from within.

Often, change comes from the outside — sudden, unexpected. It can feel chaotic, even threatening. But when it rises from within, from the fire in our chest, it doesn't feel like chaos. It feels like clarity.

It feels like looking at the sea, standing safe at the shore, our feets touching the sand… watching the waves come and go, deep in our thoughts, calm, knowing we set these motions into play and now, we're ready — for the storm, for the sun, for the unknown.

Just like the number 5, the hierophant and Leo's solar energy… we all have the inner authority to lead our own lives. Even through fear. Even when the waves look threatening in the distance. Once they arrive and the waters settled, we'll know we made the right decision.
